What are Dental Veneers?
If you have uneven or crooked teeth, large gaps or particularly discoloured teeth then veneers could help to transform your smile in an easy, quick and pain-free way.
A dental veneer is a thin layer of tooth coloured synthetic material- made from either porcelain or composite which is placed directly on the tooth’s surface. Veneers can be used to improve the alignment, colour and shape of your teeth giving a significant change in the overall look of your smile quickly, comfortably and with the minimum amount of tooth preparation required.
It will normally take 2 visits to apply your veneers.
At your first visit your teeth will be prepared. This involves removing a small amount of enamel from the front of your teeth (between 0.3-0.5mm).This is necessary in order to make room for the veneer layer.
Once teeth are prepared an impression will be taken and sent to the specialized dental laboratory where your veneers will be made.
At the next visit your veneers will be permanently bonded to your existing teeth. Your existing teeth will be cleaned and abraded slightly to help the dental cement stick securely and once fitted the cement will be hardened with a UV light.
